The Moinks Collection

Jan. 07 I was painting with my then 3 yr old daughter. A conversation took place that gave me the idea to create the paintbrush family that was later named The Moinks. Since I can't draw a stick man I wondered how I would pull this vision off. Fascinated with computer graphics I taught myself how to draw the characters I imagined in my mind.

As the 16-18hr days turned into months the characters started looking more and more like my vision. So..I hope you find my collection as enjoyable as my friends & family have. The majority of the characters are based on the people in my life.

Who's Margo?

Born Sept. 11, 1968.

The proud mommy of a soon to be 7yr old daughter we named after Samantha Runnion & Danielle van Dam. Sami, (Samantha Danielle) is the toughest critic I have & holds no punches when putting her two cents worth into The Moinks Collection.

I have an amazing support system in my partner & friend Lisa as well as my sister Ruth. Even though Ruth is well.. just look @ her pic (Ruthie) on the character page ;op My closest friends Christy and Betsy have been a great support system over the past 2 1/2 yrs.

Determined not to let bipolar keep me in darkness I throw myself into my Moinks & hope it brings the world as much joy as it has brought me.

Why the passion?

Mid 2004 my daughter was about 6mo old, I was a full-time student studying to become a k-6 teacher. Then my world came crashing down around me when my brother died. Suffering from major depression & diagonosed with bipolar I was forced to put my dreams of becoming a teacher on hold. While trying to focus on getting better my dear mother passed away in Sept. 06 & left me riding an emotional rollercoaster. Mom knew I loved to write childrens books & always believed in me more than I did myself. In Jan. 07 when the idea of The Moinks came to me I just knew mom played a part in that. I threw myself into this with fire & passion unlike anything else I have ever done.

Margo's Goals

Start a foundation that will aid in issues such as poverty, elderly needs, education, the homeless & our forgotten vets.

Publish the books I have already written based on The Moinks & my collection of poetry.

Open The Moinks Collection store: actual toy markers and pens made of my Moinks, clothing line, stuffed animals, posters, etc.

See The Moinks become an animated cartoon/movie.

Use this amazing opportunity to inspire others that suffer from bipolar.
